The CAI are delighted to support the Health Literacy Initiative, which is provided by Patients for Patient Safety Ireland.  The following is an email CAI received from Patients for Safety Ireland:

Thank you for your support to date. We have also received support from the Department of Health, HSE, HIQA, National Council for Curriculum and Assessment and others.
We are pleased to report that the Health Literacy Initiative will be launched on the 18th January 2024. We will post the attached open letter to ministers Stephen Donnelly, Norma Foley, Simon Harris and Ann Rabbitte on Thursday the 18th of January, calling for a joined-up national approach to health literacy to empower everybody in Ireland with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be active partners and advocates for their own care. We want to see an integrated approach across healthcare, education and in our communities to enable, encourage and educate people to make informed choices about their own health and have a voice in their own care.
Posts will be on X and LinkedIn, and your support will be much appreciated:

  • Support over social media channels, especially to members of communities and the public – posting / reposting with supportive comments, starting with the publication of the open letter on the 17th Sept. Tag relevant people and groups.
  • Circulate the open letter to media channels.
  • Feature articles or information e.g. on your web site, in magazines or resources provided to your members and the public. We can provide some copy for you to customise.
